A Bucket Full of Synology Package Updates – Part 2

The past week brought nearly two dozen Synology package updates for DSM 6. I recapped the first dozen on Wednesday and cover the remaining updates here.

PHP 5.6

PHP 5.6 was updated to version 5.6.21-0026 with the following changes:

  1. Upgraded PHP to 5.6.21.
  2. Fixed an issue where imageantialias cannot be found.
  3. Fixed an issue where users cannot connect to mssql.
  4. Fixed an issue where php-fpm might crash when installing LimeSurvey.

phpMyAdmin

phpMyAdmin was updated to version 4.6.2-0165 with the following changes:

  1. Upgraded to version 4.6.1 to address multiple vulnerabilities (CVE-2016-2045, CVE-2016-2559, CVE-2016-2560, CVE-2016-2561, CVE-2016-2562).
  2. Added support for configuring allowed/denied access to specific domains.

Piwik

Piwik has been updated to version 2.16.1-0091 with the following changes:

  1. Upgraded to version 2.16.1.
  2. Added support for configuring allowed/denied access to specific domains.

Proxy Server

The Proxy Server package was updated to version 3.4.11-0173 which fixed several security issues: CVE-2016-4554, CVE-2016-4555, CVE-2016-4556, CVE-2016-4553, CVE-2016-2569, CVE-2016-2570, CVE-2016-2571, CVE-2016-2572.

Python Module

The Python Module package was updated to version 0107 which fixed a security vulnerability regarding Pillow (CVE-2016-2533).

Radius Server

Radius Server was updated to version 2.2.5-0214 which fixed an issue where RADIUS cannot authenticate against LDAP server.

Snapshot Replication

Snapshot Replication as updated to version 6.0.1-0051 which includes the following changes:

  1. Added support for creating a replication task towards Snapshot Replication 6.0-0034.
  2. Added support to act as destination server of a replication task from Snapshot Replication 6.0-0034.
  3. Snapshots can now be named after the time of user’s local time zone.
  4. Optimized the CPU utilization.
  5. Moved the “Make snapshot visible” option from Control Panel to Snapshot Replication.
  6. Improved the stability of shared folder replication.
  7. Improved the stability of large iSCSI LUN replication.

Storage Analyzer

Storage Analyzer was update to version 1.0.69-0069 which includes the following changes:

  1. Supports exFAT file system.
  2. Reduced the time for generating reports.

VPN Server

VPN Server was updated to version 1.3.1-2737 which included the following changes:

  1. Fixed an issue where PPTP and L2TP connections might fail in certain situations.
  2. Fixed an issue where warning messages of IP conflicts might not appear in certain situations.
  3. Minor bug fixes.

Web Station

Web Station was updated to version 1.0-0051 with the following changes:

  1. Enhanced user interface.
  2. Fixed an issue in which Apache log files might consume all the disk space.
  3. Fixed an issue where Web Station error page cannot be shown properly in Internet Explorer and Edge.

WordPress

WordPress was update to version 4.5.2-118 which included the following changes:

  1. Upgraded to version 4.5.2 to address multiple vulnerabilities (CVE-2016-2221, CVE-2016-2222, CVE-2016-4566, CVE-2016-4567).
  2. Fixed an issue where web installation might fail when installing via HTTPS.

This does bring the Synology WordPress version up to the latest WordPress.org version which is a good sign foe the future. Synology has typically lagged behind the latest version, often significantly.
