September was a calm month for Synology Security Bulletins. Only two bulletins, both with a moderate rating.
Synology-SA–18:52 Android Moments | Synology Inc. addresses a Moderate vulnerability which would allow a man-in-the-middle attacker to execute arbitrary code.
Synology-SA–18:53 Web Proxy Auto-Discovery | Synology Inc. addresses a Moderate vulnerability which allows a man-in-the-middle attack. All DiskStation Manager (DSM) versions are vulnerable and require an upgrade to DSM 6.2.1–23824 or higher. SkyNAS is also vulnerable and does not currently have a fix. Synology Router Manager (SRM) is also vulnerable and fixed in SRM 1.1.7–6941–2 or above.
New & Updated Products
Synology released Surveillance Station 8.2. Smart Time Lapse and the new “LiveCam” phone app are among the features that Synology is highlighting.
Synology has released the DS119J, a single-bay NAS. With a $99 list price, it’s clearly a budget model. In addition to lacking data redundancy, it also lacks the CPU power and memory to run many of Synology’s add-on packages.
